From Gallows
to Airwaves

A Powerful Transformation Story.

In 2024, Zimbabwe took a historic step by abolishing the death penalty, closing a solemn chapter in its justice system.

A New Chapter

At Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison, once home to the gallows, this national milestone has been given physical and symbolic meaning. A section of the site is preserved as a heritage and reflection space, honoring history with dignity.

There remain wide opportunities for private sector participation, content collaboration, sponsorship, and community engagement. Transformation thrives through partnership.

A Groundbreaking First in Africa.

The Bridge FM redefines correctional innovation.

Inmates and Correctional Officers serve as presenters, sharing real stories of transformation, resilience, and redemption. The platform provides practical skills development in media and communication while creating a direct link between correctional facilities and society. This is not just radio. It is rehabilitation on air.

Programming That Inspires and Connects.

The Bridge FM delivers purposeful and engaging content, including: Stories of hope, reform, and reintegration

Educational and awareness programmes

Faith-based and moral guidance content

Skills, entrepreneurship, and empowerment discussions

Public service and community-focused broadcasting

Every broadcast carries a clear message: change is possible, voices matter, and lives can be rebuilt.

Impact and Value.

The Bridge FM is more than a station; it is a national asset.

It humanizes inmates and reshapes public perception, strengthens rehabilitation and reintegration pathways, and builds trust between correctional institutions and the public. It also develops critical skills in broadcasting and production while promoting unity, inclusion, and shared national identity.

Partnerships That Make It Possible.

This milestone reflects the strength of collaboration.

Corporate Chaplaincy Services has played a key role in supporting the vision, while the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe has provided regulatory guidance and licensing.

From Correction to Connection.

Aligned with the ZPCS theme: “From Correction to Connection: Building Industry Behind and Beyond the Walls”
And the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair 2026 theme:
“Connected Economies, Competitive Industries”
The Bridge FM stands as a practical example of innovation—where correctional spaces evolve into platforms of productivity, communication, and national contribution.
